Ausstellung GAA Foundation im Auftrag des European Cultural Centre im Rahmen der Architekturbiennale in Venedig zum 2.Mal jetzt 2018 im Palazzo Mora bei: TIME SPACE EXISTENCE 26 May - 25 November 2018 (preview: 24 + 25 May 2018)
As sculptor I work predominantly with recycled steel waste, logs, wood and natural materials. I weld steel to form abstract objects, masks, steles, eyes and life-sized figures or carve wood by Chainsaw Art in different variations .
NOMAD-art ist das Ergebnis einer langen Reise durch den Kontinent AFRIKA und der AtelierSuche nach einem Ort, an dem sich KUNST und KULTUR aus unterschiedlichen Welten gleichberechtigt und friedlich nebeneinander entfalten können. Es ist seit Mai 2004 ein Ort für Kunst- und Kulturaustausch, der regelmäßig durch einen NOMADEN-Brunch und andere Veranstaltungen einläd. Mit Ort ist die Stromberggemeinde Vaihingen an der Enz und Illingen/Württemberg gemeint, 49° Breiten-/ 9° Längengrad, und AGADEZ im Air-Gebirge des Niger, oberhalb des Äquators, 17°Breiten-/ 7 Längengrad.
Für NOMAD-art steht hier die Recycling-Kunst aus Stahl & Holz für Landschaft und Raum, der Begegnung Europas mit Afrika von KWAKU-Eugen Schütz und für AGADEZ eine Sonderausstellung über die TUAREG. Da die Tuareg als Nomaden der Wüste und Künstler als Nomaden der Gesellschaft bezeichnet werden, gehen hiermit beide eine Verbindung ein. Gemeinsam ist ihnen auch die Stahl- und Schmiede-Kunst. Weil ich auch als Agenda- Künstler nach den Richtlinien der AGENDA 21 arbeite, liegt es mir ebenso am Herzen, globale Verbindungen auf lokaler Ebene herzustellen.
Nach 2017 erneut nominiert, habe ich mich 2018 für Stahl entscheiden können. Und weil es hier um Architektur geht, möchte ich als Afrikanist Sie mit zu den afrikanischen Nomadenvölker in die Sahara mitnehmen, den Tuareg oder Söhnen des Windes. Für sie bestimmt die Architektur der Wüste das Leben wie bei uns der Wetterbericht, Landkarten oder Navis. Die Tuareg orientieren sich auf ihren Wanderungen zum Einen an den Sternen, besonders aber an markanten jahrtausende alten Felsformationen, Dünenkanten, an den Oasen oder Sandbildern, z.B. um die Richtung des Windes (vorher-) sehen zu können. So erkennen sie frühzeitig, ob ein Sturm naht.
Als Kenner der Tuareg präsentiere ich für Time, Space, Ecistence im Palazzo Mora eine Hommage mit dem „Kreuz des Südens“, Kel'Illingen, eigentlich ein Amulet, an dem man die Herkunft (Wappen) eines Targi erkennt. Einmal fand auch der Agadez-Schmied Bouzou den Weg zu mir ins Atelier und vielleicht wird mich in Zukunft wieder mal einer mit Hilfe des Windes besuchen kommen. Leider gibt es heute nur noch etwa eine halbe Million von ihnen in der Sahara, die ihre einmaligen Fähigkeiten hoffentlich noch lange bewahren und viele Leben retten können.

TIME SPACE EXISTENCE
The fourth edition of the biennial architecture exhibition “TIME SPACE
EXISTENCE” presents a wide selection of works from architects, photographers,
sculptors and universities from all over the world. In addition, projects
realized in cooperation with institutions and museums.
The participating architects and artists come from diverse cultural backgrounds
and different career stages, i.e. established architects next to professionals
whose works might be less known. What they have in common is their dedication to
architecture in the broadest sense of their profession. The exhibition shows a
vast spectrum of presentations (models, concepts, research outcomes, thoughts,
dreams and ideas), placing classical architectural installations in dialogue with
surprising artistic elements.
RESEARCH AND DIALOGUE
The topic TIME SPACE EXISTENCE gives the possibility for each architect to focus
on these fundamental existential questions, creating an extraordinary combination
of projects and approaches. By combining projects from architecture studios with
works of architecture photography and sculpture, the exhibition becomes a
dialogue between current developments, ideas and thoughts in art and
architecture, highlighting the philosophical concepts of Time, Space and
Existence.
We focus significantly on future developments. International Universities such as
North Carolina State University, ETH Zürich- Singapore University of Technology
and Design, Cincinnati, Buffalo, ENSA Strasbourg, Oklahoma, TU Delft, Syracuse,
Victoria University New Zealand and Monash University Australia will present
their research projects.
In addition, we will host the Mies van der Rohe Foundation with the YTAA Award.
Professors, students and researchers will enrich our exhibition with open
lectures and conferences often in cooperation with the European Cultural Academy.
Besides participations by architects such as Curtis Fentress, Fumihiko Maki,
Odile Decq, Ideal Spaces, Richard Meier, Mark Harris, Jean-Paul Viguier, Nikken
Sekkei, SOM and Kengo Kuma, we will present a monumental project by Daniel
Libeskind.

LOCATIONS
Each location dedicated to the exhibition offers a specific atmosphere. The rooms
of Palazzo Bembo mainly hosts solo presentations, amongst them the projects of
a.o. Richard Meier, Curtis Fentress and the North Carolina State University.
Palazzo Mora presents the research of many universities together with a large
variety of photography presentations and international studio projects such as
S.O.M. Chicago and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation.
The Giardini Marinaressa host a variety of sculptures and site-specific
installations such as the National Pavilion of Pakistan, the University of
Cincinnati and the monumental project of Daniel Libeskind.
